Kenda Pump is well aware that every unexpected downtime in harsh mineral processing plants or coal preparation plants results in significant production losses. 

For on-site maintenance teams, disassembling, refitting bearings and adjusting clearances in dusty and confined working spaces is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but also a major hidden hazard to the service life of the pump. An assembly error of merely 0.01 millimeters can lead to premature failure. 

At Kenda Pump, we do more than just supply spare parts. We precisely assemble and calibrate the bearing housing, main shaft, heavy-duty bearings and sealing system in a dust-free workshop, creating a plug-and-play Power Cartridge for you. 

By simply sliding it in or out of the bracket, you can reduce on-site overhaul time from days to just a few hours, completely eliminating the risk of errors caused by on-site assembly.

Structure & Process Details

Cartridge Design

This is an independent power core module. The entire assembly is completed in-house at Kenda Pump, with bearing clearance pre‑adjusted to optimal conditions.

Simplifies overhaul operations. Prevents exposure of precision bearings under harsh working conditions, greatly reduces reliance on on-site workers’ experience, and enables “foolproof” quick replacement.

Precision Manufacturing

Pump Shaft: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel 40CrNiMoA, precision ground over its full length, with surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm. Ensures perfect matching with seals and bearings, reducing friction and heat generation.

Bearing Housing: Made of heavy-duty ductile iron (QT500-7) with precision boring, ensuring coaxiality of bearing seats at both ends ≤ 0.02 mm, completely eliminating hidden dangers of shaft deflection.

Key Component Selection

Heavy-Duty Bearings

Kenda Pump engineers recognize the power end as the heart of the pump. Therefore, we insist on equipping genuine original international bearings such as SKF / Timken as standard. 

Drive End (Impeller End): Equipped with heavy-duty double row tapered roller bearings, easily handling the strong radial and axial thrust transmitted by the impeller. 

Power End (Motor End): Fitted with cylindrical roller bearings, which efficiently withstand radial loads and allow slight axial thermal expansion of the shaft during high-speed operation.

Advanced Sealing Systems

Labyrinth Seal: The first external defense line. With precision inverted-tooth labyrinth design and grease filling, it forms dual physical and fluid barriers, effectively blocking intrusion of external high-pressure slurry and flushing water. 

Garter Springs Oil Seals: The second internal defense line. Firmly retains internal lubricant while blocking extremely fine dust particles.

Kenda Pump Power Cartridge is specially engineered for the most severe heavy-duty environments, and is widely used for equipment overhaul and upgrade in the following applications: 

Metal Mines: Feeding of cyclones after primary crushing, long-distance tailings transportation.

Coal Washing Plants: Dense medium cyclone feed pumps, thickener underflow pumps.

Maintenance Instructions & Troubleshooting

Oil Lubrication vs. Grease Lubrication

Grease Lubrication: Suitable for most small and medium-power pumps, with simple structure and low maintenance cost.

Oil Lubrication: Designed for high-speed, continuous and heavy-duty conditions. Equipped with a visible oil indicator and constant-temperature water cooling system, it provides excellent heat dissipation and doubles the service life of bearings.

When to Replace the Assembly

Abnormal Vibration: A significant increase in the envelope value at specific frequencies detected by a vibration analyzer indicates fatigue spalling on the bearing raceways.

Excessive Temperature Rise: The surface temperature of the bearing housing is over 40°C higher than ambient temperature.

(Note: Maximum safe temperature is 80°C for grease lubrication and 70°C for oil lubrication.)

Unusual Noise: Regular low-frequency rumbling or harsh metallic friction sounds.

Quality Control & Process Flow

What you receive is a fully tested and proven module from Kenda Pump, not just loose parts:

NDT (Non-Destructive Testing): 100% ultrasonic testing (UT) on every shaft to eliminate any internal micro-cracks.

Dynamic Balancing Test: Ensures no eccentric vibration during high-speed operation of the shaft.

Dust-Free Assembly: Bearing press-fitting is performed in a constant-temperature dust-free workshop, with axial and radial clearances strictly calibrated using feeler gauges and dial indicators.

Run-in Test: Simulated no-load operation before delivery to verify that temperature rise and noise indicators fully meet standards.

Packaging & Global Delivery

VCI Anti-Rust Treatment: After assembly, the whole unit is coated with protective oil and vacuum-sealed in VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) bags, ensuring rust prevention during months of sea transportation and storage.

ISPM 15 Heat-Treated & Fumigation-Free Wooden Crates: Thickened export-grade plywood crates with custom-built internal brackets are used to secure the assembly, preventing bearing clearance misalignment caused by impact during transit. Ready for use right out of the box, directly delivered to the job site.

FAQ

Q1: Can I replace the bearing directly on site? Why do you recommend purchasing the entire power cartridge?

A: Yes, but it is usually not cost-effective. Disassembling and assembling bearings in dusty, humid on-site environments can easily introduce contaminants; besides, it is difficult to accurately adjust bearing clearances on site. Purchasing a complete power cartridge from Kenda Pump not only shortens the 3–4 day maintenance period to just a few hours, but also avoids secondary damage caused by improper assembly. The overall downtime cost is much lower than buying a bearing alone.

Q2: Can Kenda Pump’s bearing assemblies be a 100% replacement for my existing international brand pumps (such as Warman)?

A: Absolutely. Our bearing brackets and assemblies strictly follow industry common standards in dimensional tolerances and mounting hole positions, enabling 100% seamless replacement and interchangeability. You can install them directly into your existing pump casing and base.

Q3: Does the oil-lubricated version require additional cooling equipment?

A: For most working conditions, the standard bearing housing heat sinks are sufficient. However, under extreme high-temperature or ultra-high-power conditions, Kenda Pump integrates water-cooled coils inside the bearing housing; you only need to connect it to the on-site normal-temperature cooling water pipeline.
